How to improve your sightreading

Some people have a difficulty in sightreading. Actually, sightreading is not difficult as you think. I have some tips to improve your sightreading. Firstly, look at the piece overall. It means look the tempo, time signature, dynamics, structure, rhythm, etc. Secondly, read the interval of notes. For example C-E is minor third, C-F is perfect fourth, etc. Try to play the music first in your head before you play it. If you cannot play it fast, play it slowly, but try not to make any mistakes. More time you practice, your skill will growing up. Good luck!

Beethoven and his music

I think it is important for us to know musician’s personality and his life before we play his work. According the book I have read (I forgot the title of the book, because I read it at the book store), Beethoven was a romantic type in the enneagram of personality (read my post before). He was a creative and individualism. His emotion changes suddenly and this is reflected in his music. In his music the dynamic and the tempo often changes suddenly. I think there is a relationship between personality and music.

My Holiday Activities

I have to write a writing program of my Scarlatti’s sonata. I haven’t written any writing program before. Maybe somebody can help me please?

Now I’m learning Scarlatti’s sonata, Bach prelude and fugue, Beethoven’s sonata, 3 pieces for Shanghai examination, and Chopin’s scherzo. The loveliest piece is Beethoven’s sonata. I play it more time than other pieces (hahaha…). The difficult piece for me is Bach prelude. Yeah… I try to enjoy my holiday activities. I’m busy now.

This is Great!!

I started to learn this piece 1 or 2 days ago (I forgot) and now I’ve learned a half part of movement 1. I like this music! I rather confused how to play grave part and I must increase my speed in the allegro part. I hope I can play this music soon. My target is playing the 1st movement in 1 month. Hope this dream comes true!

Learn to Believe

I remembered when my piano teacher teaches me. Sometimes I feel bored because she asked me to play same music again and again. Sometimes I think I was able to do it, why I must play it again and again? Sometimes I think is it no other way to play music in an easy way without doing so many exercises? But now I realized, every step I had done are good for me.

Jesus is our God and Teacher, He knows the best for us. I try to believe Him with all my heart. Although there are many struggles in our life, believe that God plans the best for us. Just do whatever He asks!

Spring

Wow, that’s great! I like it! What a wonderful opening! It played so energetic and cheerful, likes a butterfly went out from its cocoon. The second movement played calm and full of sadness. I think maybe it likes you have a windstorm in your life. The last movement played cheerful, but there is sadness at the end like the spring almost over.

Summer

It opened by sadness like seeking something lost but can’t find. So sad… The climax can be illustrated like you have a heavy storm. And then all things had gone. The second movement still played in the sadness. But I feel a little hope in it although it is heartrending. The last movement played in the sadness too. This summer is full of sadness.

Autumn

It is a sweet and cheerful opening. It turns calm and sad in the middle of the first movement, but closed by a cheerful atmosphere. The second movement played calm and full of sadness. The last movement played energetic and cheerful like the hunt.

Winter

Fall ended and winter begins. It played lightly and sadness, but there is a little cheerful in it. The second movement is so sweet and peaceful. The last movement can be illustrated like a run away.
